STANDOUT Inc. is a two-person software company in Okayama, Japan. Our work is VATES. VATES is infrastructure a developer drops into their own product. One line of JavaScript gives you a chat widget. An HTTP API lets you wire it into a backend the way you would wire in Stripe or Twilio. There is also a standalone chat URL and a remote MCP server. Same foundation underneath all four. What comes back is grounded in your knowledge base, not in whatever the model happened to absorb during training. And it comes back in the language the person asked in — Japanese question, Japanese answer; Georgian question, Georgian answer — from a single knowledge base that stores no translations at all. The reason it can do that is the storage format. Most systems of this kind convert your documents into numeric vectors before they can search them. VATES does not. Knowledge stays as structured plain text and is read at the moment someone asks. Three practical consequences follow. Edits are live the second you save them, because there is no index waiting to be rebuilt. You can open the stored knowledge and read it, so when an answer looks wrong you can find the line responsible. And there is no vector database to provision, no GPU, and no embedding API billing on every query. Pricing works the same way. No monthly fee, no seat count.
